Maritime radiocommunication examinations

In accordance with the International Radio Regulations, anyone who uses radiocommunications equipment on a seagoing vessel must be the holder of a licence and a certificate of competency permitting him or her to use the equipment in question. The examinations are organised by OFCOM.

Beacons in the maritime service must be properly registered so that, in case of distress at sea, the rescue process works correctly after the EPIRB has been activated.
